Find Me a Home Where The Buffalo Roam

“Home, home on the range, Where the deer and the antelope play; Where seldom is heard A discouraging word And the skies are not cloudy all day.” Sounds like the wild, wild west? This could be the description for Boulder, Colorado, we have Buffalo, lots of Deer, not many antelope but loads of Elk. Many people that live here will tell you that we have 300 days of sunshine, which is a fair statement. It’s our best kept secret, people relocating to this area, think that because we are in the mountains that all we have is snow, snow and more snow all winter, not true. This is the scenerio if you really live “in the mountains” but Boulder Colorado is not in the mountains, it’s very close to the foothills and about an hours drive to higher elevations, such as Keystone, Breckenridge, Winter Park, Copper Mountain, Loveland, Vail, Beaver Creek, that’s where the snow flies, as it should.
As the song goes, “Find me a home,” well that’s the easy part once you decide to live in a place like Boulder that has so much sunshine, and is close to all the major ski resorts. I doubt you will see Buffalo roaming in your back yard but herds of buffalo do exist and the picture for this blog was taken on Nelson Road in Longmont which is in Boulder County. So, if you are wondering who wrote the song, Home on the Range, it was Dr. Brewster Higley in 1871 and 1872 and believe it or not was written into legislature as the official Kansas State song.

As the song goes, “Seldom is heard a discouraging word,” that pretty much sums it up for living in Boulder, Colorado. We would like to hear from you, post a comment.

Great Blog! I loved the tie in to the Buffalo. Real Estate is supposed to be enjoyable. David
