Take a hike, in Boulder CO that is!!!!

One of my favorite things to do is take a hike.  Weather it is a short afternoon trip or a long challenging trail that takes me to isolated alpine lakes over a few days, hiking gives more than it takes.  In Boulder Colorado there are plenty of trails to choose from and a variety of degrees of difficulty amongst those trails.  You can jog up the red rocks trail and take a look east over our beautiful city.  Or you can drive a bit north and start at 4 a.m. to conquer Pikes Peak.  Trust me, you will need a bit or training for that one.  If you enjoy the outdoors, are looking to get in shape, or just need to blow off some steam than take a hike. iStock_000004875103XSmall Read the rest of this entry »

    Boulder Summer Camps

summer_camp_School is ending for the 2009-2010 year and with that comes the need to find childcare for the summer.  As a working mother in Boulder Colorado, I am always looking for a great summer camp or two around the county.  And since real estate is really picking up, I will need plenty of full-time child care.  Over the years, my children have attended YMCA, Science Discovery,  and Avid4Adventure.  These are all fulfilling camps providing not only supervision but stimulating activities as well.  Did you know that YMCA camps have been voted the best day camps 4 years in a row!?  Wow, you can’t beat that kind of award.  It’s nice to feel reassured that while your child is away for the day; that they are learning, having fun, and being well taken care of.  At the YMCA Day Camp, children can enjoy all sorts of adventure including archery, swimming, arts & crafts, field trips, and new friendships.  A wide variety of programs are offered for children ages 5-17, with special programs designed just for teens.  Want to hear about more camp opportunities?  Read on. A farmers’ Market in Boulder

For the pick of Boulder Colorado’s finest grown produce there is only one place to be….  If you are looking for live music outside, I know where you should go…If you are interested in tasting some local flavors such as tamales and honey, the destination is clear….. Boulder’s Farmers’ Market.  The Boulder County Farmers’ Markets take pride in bringing you locally growniStock_000006978119XSmallvegetables, meats, fruits, flowers, plants, gourmet cheeses and wines sold by the farmers that produce them. While you’re purchasing your fresh vegetables and fruits (many of them organically grown) enjoy a tasty pastry from a local bakery or a meal created by local chefs.       There was a time when city grocery stores featured locally grown agricultural products. But as a demand for fruit and vegetable production increased, farms grew larger in size and fewer in numbers. Many growers decided to enter the wholesale business and abandon their seemingly less profitable retail stores.  In the Autumn of 1986, a small group of local farmers decided to organize a formal Farmer’s Market to be located in downtown Boulder, Colorado.  The site had to be permanent, highly visible, attractive, accessible and shaded. Boulder’s Central Park, located in the heart of the city, was chosen and the Boulder County Farmers’ Market was off and running!!!!!!

Looking for an Alternative to Foreclosure

iStock_000007789001XSmallReally?  Not a short sale?  Not a foreclosure?  It’s called a ” Deed in Lieu of Foreclosure” which actually lets a homeowner voluntarily turn over the deed to their house to the lender!    This is not a new concept, however, neither is foreclosure, but this crazy real estate market we are living in now requires that you cover all you bases before making a final decision on how to get out from under your mortgage.  Even thought the federal government launched some new rules earlier this month concerning short sales, some homeowners might not quality for a short sale because they have no hardship. Could this be you?  Read on please…. Read the rest of this entry »

    No Phone Zone Pledge

    no-texting-while-driving

The Troia Team is supporting the newest initiative instigated by Oprah Winfreyherself.  NO TEXTING WHILE DRIVING! While it’s a nationwide promise, we are honoring it here in Boulder Colorado as real estate agents and concerned members of our city.  It all began in a local community near our county, Fort Collins Colorado when earlier this year, Shelley and Daren Forney, lost their 9-year-old daughter. Erica, who was on her bicycle, just 15 pedals from her front door when she was hit and killed by a driver who was distracted by the cell phone. Erica’s death was senseless and stupid because it was caused by a phone call that just couldn’t wait.  Just recently I was driving next to someone who had both hands on their phone and their elbows were on the steering wheel…….”steering”!!?!?!? I was scared to be on the road next to him.  Read more about this important cause and help to prevent unnecessary deaths and accidents.
